The journal “The Principles of the comparative jurisprudence” seeks to find new ways to address challenges by examining the shared foundational principles and issues in Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) between Shi’a and Sunni traditions. This endeavor appears not only possible but also necessary, given the many commonalities between Shi’a and Sunni legal principles.
The journal is characterized by its research-oriented nature, its focus on contemporary Usul al-Fiqh, and its emphasis on applying legal theory to address emerging issues. It was officially licensed in the year 1400 SH / 1443 AH / 2022 CE by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran and has been granted permission for online publication.
This journal takes pride in its dual mission: while it contributes significantly to the advancement of Usul al-Fiqh within Islamic jurisprudence, it also takes a small yet meaningful step toward intellectual unity between the two great Islamic traditions.
Objectives and Scope Developing knowledge of Usul al-Fiqh, establishing appropriate foundations for resolving emerging issues, and addressing gaps in the understanding of Usul al-Fiqh.
