The number of verses

Regarding the counting of the number of verses in the Holy Quran, there are five viewpoints, each attributed to one of the interpretive and Quranic schools of early Islam. These five numbers are: the Kufi number; the Basri number; the Madani number; the Makki number; and the Shami number of verses.
