New Intellectual Research
The necessity of developing and deepening religious thought in the present era, especially in the face of the various manifestations of Western thought that aim to weaken the foundational beliefs of human societies, is a fundamental principle in the establishment and expansion of an Islamic society. Undoubtedly, philosophy and theology, as two of the most solid foundations of Islamic thought, play a significant role in this regard. Therefore, presenting, explaining, and critically analyzing new perspectives in these fields (philosophy and theology) is an undeniable necessity.
Familiarity with competing ideologies is certainly one of the first and most important strategies for confronting this intellectual invasion. On the one hand, introducing contemporary philosophical and theological ideas from the Western world will create a space where Islamic scholars can examine the intellectual foundations of Western culture and develop appropriate strategies for response. On the other hand, comparing and contrasting these perspectives with those found in Islamic philosophy and theology will be beneficial in several ways:
- Strengthening the foundations of Islamic thought and identifying overlooked aspects that, when addressed, can not only contribute to the expansion of modern Islamic thought but also serve as a defense against many intellectual and ideological challenges.
- Gaining insight into the issues and challenges in contemporary philosophy and theology, some of which may be addressed through engagement with Islamic philosophical and theological perspectives.
- Establishing interaction and dialogue between Islamic philosophy and theology and Western thought, thereby paving the way for the expansion of modern Islamic thought in the contemporary world.
Based on this vision, the Biannual Journal of New Intellectual Research has commenced its activities to foster the exchange of ideas and contemporary intellectual discussions in the field of rational sciences, thereby making a meaningful and constructive contribution to the advancement of Islamic thought, which serves as the intellectual foundation for the development of modern Islamic civilization.
It is worth noting that the policymakers of the Biannual Journal of Modern Rational Studies, considering the broad meaning of rational sciences—which encompasses philosophical, theological, and logical discussions—and taking into account innovative aspects in these fields, place special emphasis on the following areas:
- New perspectives and theories in the field of Islamic philosophy and theology;
- Contemporary theological viewpoints that can be compared with and utilized in Islamic theology;
- Emerging discussions in the field of applied and specialized philosophies;
- New topics in comparative philosophy, particularly in fostering interaction between Islamic and Western philosophy;
- Recent developments in modern logic that have found effective applications in philosophy and contemporary theology;
- Any new idea that can contribute effectively to the advancement of rational Islamic thought in the emerging Islamic society.
