This book discusses the personal life of Abu Ja’far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn No’man, known as Mu’min al-Taq, as well as his scholarly and cultural works, and some of his theological works in defense of the imamate and guardianship of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and his proofs of the leadership of the Imam. The book describes Mu’min al-Taq’s method of theological reasoning in presenting theological issues and his approach to beliefs, including his reliance on the verses of the Quran, the narrations of the infallibles (peace be upon them), and rational arguments to prove his claims.
The author explores some of Mu’min al-Taq’s beliefs and thoughts on various theological issues such as epistemology, the sources of knowledge and revelation, the relationship between reason and revelation, theology, the proof of God’s existence, the description of divine names and attributes, and divine actions. The book also discusses Mu’min al-Taq’s thoughts on the characteristics of the infallible Imam, the necessity of obedience to the Imam, the obligation of recognizing and following the infallible Imam, the issues related to the Mahdi, the knowledge of the Imam, loyalty and disavowal, his views on the first and second caliphs, human and worldviews, polygamy, taqiyya, and some other beliefs. The author discusses Mu’min al-Taq’s realistic views on theological issues and his role in strengthening the intellectual foundations of Shia thought.
