The names of Surah Bayyinah
The blessed Surah Al-Bayyinah, in addition to its most well-known name, has other names:
1, 2, and 3. Lam Yakun, Ahl al-Kitab, Infikak: These names are derived from the words “lam yakun” (were not), “ahl al-kitab” (People of the Book), and “munfakkīn” (separated) used in the first verse of this surah: “Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence” (Quran 98:1).
- Bariyyah: The word “bariyyah” (creatures) appears in verses 6 and 7 of this surah.
- Qiyamah: Since part of the conditions of the People of the Book on the Day of Resurrection, as well as the events of the Day of Resurrection, are described in this surah, it is also called “Qiyamah.”
