The last surah
There are three opinions regarding the last surah revealed:
- Surah An-Nasr;
- Surah At-Tawbah (Bara’ah);
- Surah Al-Ma’idah.
Some have said: Surah An-Nasr, which contains glad tidings of victory, was revealed before the conquest of Makkah, while Surah At-Tawbah was revealed after the conquest of Makkah. Therefore, Surah At-Tawbah is the last surah. A way to reconcile the first and second opinions is that Surah An-Nasr is the last surah to be revealed in its entirety, while Surah At-Tawbah is considered the last surah based on its initial verses, not the entire surah.
